Watch the Replays of Fibromyalgia Awareness Week , September 5-12, 2023,. Fibromyalgia Awareness Week is an important time to educate and raise awareness about this chronic condition. It aims to shed light on the challenges faced by Canadians who suffer from fibromyalgia.

This year's Semaine de sensibilisation à la fibromyalgie is from September 5-12, 2023, and, again this year, has been recognized by Health Canada.

During FAC's Awareness week of September 5th to 12th, we recognize fibromyalgia and all who experience this illness.

La Semaine de sensibilisation à la fibromyalgie est une occasion importante de sensibiliser et d'informer sur cette maladie chronique. Elle vise à mettre en lumière les défis auxquels font face les Canadiens atteints de fibromyalgie.

Tout au long de Semaine de sensibilisation à la fibromyalgie FAC will have live speakers and some recorded presentations. FAC will have Disability Lawyer David Brannen presenting live at 12 pm ET on September 5th, 2023, Physiatrist, Dr. Andrea Furlan presenting live at 12 pm ET on September 6th, 2023, Physiotherapist, Tyler Dillman from One to One Wellness, presenting live on September 7, 2023 and Dr. Alia Norman from the Cannabinoid Medical Clinic in Newfoundland presenting live at 2 pm ET on Friday September 8th 2023.

David Brannen Disability Lawyer

Born in Brampton, Ontario, David grew up on Cape Sable Island in Southwestern Nova Scotia. He now lives in New Brunswick with his wife and children. David practices nationwide but primarily in Ontario.

When not working, David spends most of his time as a competitive player and judge for the trading card game Flesh and Blood.

David is a former lecturer at Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Health Professions and is the author of The Beginner’s Guide to CPP DisabilityThe CPP Application WorkbookA Beginner’s Guide to Disability Insurance Claims in Canada et The Workers’ Compensation Survival Guide.

Dr. Andrea Furlan Physiatrist

Dr. Andrea Furlan is a physiatrist, and pain specialist at Toronto Rehab. She is also a scientist at KITE and the Institute for Work & Health.

She is a professor of medicine at the University of Toronto, and in her spare time she posts videos on her YouTube channel. 

She has released her first book for the general public: 8 STEPS TO CONQUER CHRONIC PAIN, and she has been a guest to many podcasts, radio, magazines and blogs. 

She is passionate about teaching healthcare professionals about how to properly and effectively help people with chronic pain. She is the chair of Project ECHO Chronic Pain and Opioid Stewardship, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health, a program that mentors healthcare professionals in rural, remote and underserved areas of Ontario, and recently has been awarded a Health Canada, and a CIHR grant to expand and study project ECHO chronic pain across Canada. 

Tyler Dillman Physiotherapist

As a Physiotherapist and Owner of One to One Wellness, Tyler’s commitment as a healthcare professional is to create a safe environment for individuals to learn how to integrate healthy lifestyle practices that enhance quality of life and increase participation in meaningful activities. Tyler is a graduate of Dalhousie University’s MScPT program, and has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Mount Allison University, and a Bachelor of Kinesiology from Acadia University. 

With interests in Pain Science, Behaviour Change, Therapeutic Relationship, and Chronic Pain, Tyler's whole person philosophy to patient care is based on the understanding an individual’s health is influenced by the complex interactions amongst many bio-psycho-social factors. Through listening and validating patient experiences, Tyler aims to create successful, unique, and meaningful treatment plans to help optimize an individual’s health. 

Lorsqu'il n'est pas au travail, Tyler passe du temps avec sa femme et ses deux fils, explore des sentiers de randonnée et discute de sports fantastiques avec ses amis. 

Dr Alia Norman Radiation oncologist

Dr Alia Norman is a radiation oncologist with 7 years experience working full time in the medical cannabis field.  

Areas of interest include: fibromyalgia and other chronic pain syndromes, palliative care, mind-body and trauma connections, cannabis science including dosing and tolerance, terpenes and minor cannabis compounds.   

They are a member of the Newfoundland Cannabis Health Evaluation and Research Partnership (CHERP).
