For those living with fibromyalgia, changes in routines, activity levels, sleep, and weather can sometimes affect how we feel. September can be a good time to pause, reassess, and create routines that support your energy and well-being.

This month's Qigong lesson offers a gentle opportunity to slow down, focus on your breathing, and bring mindful movement into your day. Qigong can provide a quiet space to check in with your body and mind without adding pressure to do more.

Fibromyalgia Association Canada (FAC) encourages you to approach the transition into fall in a way that works for you. As routines become busier, remember that you don't have to do everything at once. Breaking activities into smaller steps, pacing yourself, taking rest breaks, and allowing flexibility in your plans can help you manage your available energy.

September is also a time to reconnect with others. FAC's Peer Support initiatives offer opportunities to connect with people who understand the challenges of living with fibromyalgia. Sharing experiences, listening to others, and knowing that you are understood can help reduce feelings of isolation and create a sense of connection.

There is no single approach to managing fibromyalgia that works for everyone. Qigong, mindful movement, pacing, rest, and connection with others are some of the strategies you may choose to explore. Pay attention to how your body responds and give yourself permission to adapt your approach when needed.

As we move into a new season, remember that taking care of yourself doesn't have to mean doing more. Sometimes, small and intentional changes can make everyday life a little more manageable.

You will find more tips here https://www.fibrocanada.ca/en/impact-of-changing-seasons-on-fibromyalgia

A little about your Qigong guide, Carolynne:

Carolynne Melnyk, B.Ed, MA, Certified Spring Forest Qigong Trainer and practitioner, Published Author, and World Traveler.
