While many people enjoy the summer season, heat, humidity, changes in routine, and increased activity can present additional challenges for those of us living with fibromyalgia.

This Qigong lesson offers a gentle way to help manage the effects of the summer season while creating an opportunity to reconnect, both with yourself and with others, in ways that feel manageable and meaningful.

Fibromyalgia Association Canada (FAC) encourages you to embrace summer at your own pace. There is no need to do more simply because the days are longer. Listening to your body, pacing activities, staying hydrated, practicing mindful movement, and making time for rest can help support symptom management throughout the season.

As part of this, FAC's Peer Support initiatives provide a welcoming space to connect, share experiences, and feel understood. Whether you are joining a group, attending a session, or simply taking a moment for yourself, these small, intentional steps can help foster resilience and well-being.

Connecting with others through peer support can reduce isolation and create a sense of belonging. Sharing experiences with people who understand can be validating and empowering, reminding each of us that we are not alone on our fibromyalgia journey.

Every person's experience with fibromyalgia is unique, and what works well for one individual may not work for another. Exploring different strategies and making small adjustments throughout the season can help you discover what best supports your health and well-being. If you're looking for additional ideas to help you navigate the summer months, FAC has compiled practical tips and resources to support you. Qi gong is a gentle, easy ancient Chinese practice that can be done by anyone, anywhere, at any time. Its beauty lies in its simplicity, effectiveness, and flexibility.

You don’t need any experience or special equipment. You can stand, sit or lie down during the practice. You DO NEED a place where you won’t be disturbed for 60 minutes.
